UMD Dogfights

University Golf Couse Stableford

Looking for a game? Come out to the University Golf Course and play in our Dogfight! Open to all maintaining their handicap at the UMD Golf Course. Each week we will have an individual Stableford style competition in conjunction with a skins game. Our Dogfights will alternate between Saturday and Sunday each week beginning April 25, 2020. Here are the details:

• A Stableford competition is where you earn points on each hole. You are given a point quota that you must earn for each round based on your handicap or average score. The winner will be the player who goes over his/her quota by the most points. Points per hole are awarded as follows, based on your gross score; 10points for a double eagle or ace, 6 points for eagles, 4 for birdies, 2 for pars, 1 for bogies, and 0 points for anything higher.
• $10 entry fee in addition to your green and cart fees.
• Optional Skins competition, $5 entry fee, will be in both net and gross divisions.
• Tee Times begin at 8:00am
• Scoring and payouts will be handled by the UMGC Staff. Payouts will be in the form of golf course credit book deposits for the Stableford competition and in cash for the skins.
• Weekly results will be posted online
• Dogfight quotas will be adjusted on a weekly basis. The initial quota will be based off the player’s handicap (36 minus handicap). Once you have played 3 weeks, the quota will be the average of your last 3 rounds.
• Sign up in the golf shop as late as the day of the dogfight. Players may request certain pairings. Singles are welcome
